I read that the database either it is Oracle or any other type of it ignored the null values in the calculations. So could you please explain that to me? And please give me an example about that.

What error do you get ?
As said, there was no version 9g. But there was a 9i Release 1 (9.0) and a version 9i Release 2 (9.2). 9iR1 is no longer supported. The last supported version or 9iR2 is 9.2.0.8.
