   When you revocate a character they become level one again. Spells are dependent on level, so I believe (but don’t know) that you will lose them until you hit the appropriate level again.
   The sage will not know the mage spells, as all spells are job specific. There are some similar spells on both job’s spell lists, but that’s just a factor of the limited spells in the game.

   If you switch their vocation they will become level 1 in the class. Magic skills are not carried over to other vocations you will have to level them up again to learn new spells (even if the class learns the same spells). Abilities earned through skill points will carry over.
   One thing I recommend is that you level your characters up in multiple vocations and put most of the points earned into the vocations main skills. As the skills and stat boosts are passed over to other vocations you can create a really powerful party.
   For example My main character is a warrior but I have leveled him up enough in other vocations such as a thief, ranger and gladiator meaning he is now very fast and about twice as strong as he was when he was only leveled as a warrior.
